My Approach
I work with adults, couples, and families. My role is to help clients discover how to see and hear themselves with clarity and compassion, and work together to heal their hurts. This frees up clients to face life's challenges with calmness, creativity, and courage.
I use a variety of psychodynamic interventions, including parts therapy, online sandtray therapy, art therapy, and play therapy. I also incorporate emotional freedom technique (tapping). I use these interventions personally in my daily life, and find that they allow me to identify and regulate my thoughts and feelings on a powerful level. Naturally, I want that for my clients, too.
I also incorporate these interventions into client sessions for other reasons. Sometimes clients find it hard to talk about past traumas or experiences. The way the brain stores trauma can make it hard to remember things that happened. Some of my clients experienced hurtful events even before they could speak, which makes talking about the traumas challenging. Fortunately, psychodynamic interventions make it easier to share thoughts and feelings without relying on the spoken word.
As a registered dietitian and an ACE-certified healthy coach, I use a weight-inclusive, non-diet approach. My focus isn't on the scale, or on counting calories or macros. I work with clients to help them create a healthy lifestyle that supports a healthy weight. That includes exploring the relationship between mind and body, and developing the skills needed for both weight loss and weight management. My goal is to see clients enjoy a lifetime of health and happiness by being in an ongoing, lifelong healthy relationship with their own thoughts and feelings, and with their own body.
